Home Depot Launches Co-branded Rewards Cards

We just knew this would happen one day. With do-it-yourself frequent flyers flocking to home improvement stores to earn double miles offered by a variety of airline-related credit cards, it was just a matter of time before someone in lighting, fixtures or plumbing took notice. Now The Home Depot has launched a pair of its own co-branded consumer and business rewards credit cards: The Home Depot Rewards MasterCard and The Home Depot Business Rewards MasterCard.

Both cards are issued by Citi Cards, and cardmembers earn 2,500 bonus points with their first purchase (enough for a $25 gift card), two points for every dollar spent at The Home Depot and Expo Design centre, and one point for every dollar spent on purchases at all locations worldwide where MasterCard is accepted.

Taking a page from the book of CapitalOne, the following air travel rewards are standard to the card: 10,000 points = $100 Discount on any airfare; 20,000 points = $200 discount on any airfare; 25,000 points = a roundtrip airline ticket within the continental U.S. (max. value $250); 35,000 points = a roundtrip airline ticket within the continental U.S. (max. value $350).

Other airline, cruise, and vacation packages are also available.
