So you bought your ticket and you are ready to head out on that important business trip. You get to the airport and you check your itinerary. To your bewilderment, you notice that your ticket says you are in coach seating. You forgot to get the upgrade when you bought your ticket! Never fear, because Gulf Air is now allowing members of their Frequent flyer club to request last-minute upgrades at the airport. Gold and Silver Frequent flyer members can request upgrades while relaxing in Gulf Air lounges at Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai, London Heathrow and Muscat. Members can request and upgrade by enquiring at the lounge service desk at least 60 minutes prior to departure. The lounge agents will be able to let members know if they have enough miles in their account to claim an upgrade and then can make the upgrade request. Members may not be upgraded if there are no seats available in the class requested, but it’s always worth a try. Gulf Air will be able to confirm seat status at least 30 minutes prior to departure. Pre-booked upgrades will continue to be available and may be the best way to secure the upgrade you are looking for, but the last-minute upgrades might prove useful to those members who do not secure upgrades beforehand and don’t want to sit in the cheap seats.
