United Rolls Out New Credit Card

United Rolls Out New Credit Card

United and Chase have unveiled a new rewards card — the United Mileage Plus Platinum Class Signature Visa card. For the first time, members can get a Mileage Plus Visa card that does not have a mileage cap and enables them to earn up to 15,000 miles toward elite status; double miles for United, Star Alliance and other everyday purchases; and an annual free companion ticket.

New cardmembers will earn 15,000 bonus miles after the first use of their card, and 5,000 of those miles will also count toward elite status. Cardmembers will also have the opportunity to earn an additional 5,000 Elite Qualifying Miles for making purchases with the card over a designated amount during the year. For tickets purchased on united.com, cardmembers can also earn up to 5,000 Elite Qualifying Miles. A special anniversary companion ticket will also be provided to cardholders annually.

There is no mileage cap for cardmembers regardless of their status level.

Mileage Plus joins several other programs such as Delta SkyMiles that allow members to accumulate elite qualifying miles by use of credit card spending. Next up … American AAdvantage?
