Starwood Hotels and MBNA Canada Bank have partnered to introduce the Starwood Preferred Guest MasterCard credit card. It is the first hotel affinity card offered in Canada and designed exclusively for Canadians.

Starwood Preferred Guest MasterCard members earn Starpoints with each purchase. Retail transactions will reward card members with one Starpoint for every C$2.00 spent. A welcome bonus of 5,000 Starpoints will be awarded on the first retail usage of the card. Customers will earn an additional 5,000 bonus Starpoints for every C$10,000 in retail spend, up to 15,000 bonus Starpoints each year. For example, a customer who spends C$30,000 in the first year would earn a total of 35,000 Starpoints (5,000 welcome bonus, 15,000 retail spend, and 15,000 in tiered bonuses). In addition, customers will earn another 5,000 bonus Starpoints the first time they charge a stay at one of the Starwood properties to their Starwood Preferred Guest credit card.
