US Airways Dividend Miles – September, 24 2004

US Airways’ current financial situation has caused quite a stir among worried members who fear losing their miles if the airline doesn’t survive. If you’re in this boat, the following should come as welcome news: Dividend Miles off-peak awards are now available, and some award seats booked online through next April can be had for up to 20-percent fewer miles.

Dividend Miles members who book Standard award tickets online for domestic travel in coach class will only need 20,000 miles. Or, book a Premium roundtrip award flight in coach class for 40,000 miles (normally 50,000). Premium award tickets are free of blackout dates and capacity controls, and there is no Saturday-night stay required. For these discounted off-peak awards, travel is permitted through the end of February 2005.

A Standard award ticket for travel in coach class between North America and Central America, Mexico or the Caribbean has been reduced to 25,000 miles — a savings of 5,000 miles. Discounted award tickets for travel in first class have been reduced to 50,000 miles, but this offer is only available to US Airways Visa cardholders. To receive the off-peak discount award ticket, all travel must be completed by Nov. 14.

In addition, Standard award tickets booked online for travel between Europe and North or Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean are reduced to 40,000 miles (normally 50,000). Members have through the end of April next year to book an award and travel to these destinations.

To take advantage of the discounted mileage requirement, all ticketing must be done at http://www.usairways.com.
