Lufthansa Would Seek New Partner If United Fails

According to Reuters, Deutsche Lufthansa AG said it would search for a new alliance partner if bankrupt United Airlines dropped out of the market, but the German carrier said it expected its U.S. peer to pull through.

Lufthansa Chief Executive Officer Juergen Weber recently held a press conference in Frankfurt in which he reiterated his support for the ailing American airline, and said that Lufthansa would continue to back its Star Alliance partner.

When pressed on what would happen if United did not make it, Weber said Lufthansa and the Star Alliance would search for a new partner.
