Hawaii Imposes Airport Fee

Hawaii Imposes Airport Fee

That trip to Hawaii just got a little more expensive — expensive, that is, if you’re paying for your flight.

State legislators in Hawaii recently gave preliminary approval to a bill that would add a $4.50 “passenger facility charge” on all flights out of Hawaii.

The fee, expected to raise between $10 and $15 million, will be used to make improvements at airport facilities. By imposing the fee, Hawaii leaves Delaware as the only state that doesn’t charge such a fee.

Non-revenue flyers are exempt.
