American Express Membership Rewards is finally joining other programs in providing members with an account statement on a monthly basis. Scheduled to begin distribution next month, the new statement will be similar to most airline and hotel statements, with select offers and bonus point opportunities, as well as point balances and redemption activity. Members will still receive a newsletter on a quarterly basis, featuring reward opportunities and program information. Sound good? Well, not really. The new and improved monthly statement will not be accurate. It will not contain card activity for new point postings for the previous two months. Like everything else, if you really want to know your net points and mileage worth, head to the Internet. But hey, most of you know your balances by heart anyway, right?
