Lufthansa, Star Alliance Say United's Woes Will Not Affect Service

Lufthansa told The Associated Press that its transatlantic schedule will not be affected by the bankruptcy of its partner in the Star Alliance, United Airlines.

Lufthansa depends on its close connections with United in order to sell expensive, revenue-generating business-class seats on flights to and from Europe.

Star Alliance chief executive Jaan Albrecht told the AP it would be “business as usual'” while United restructures. “Customers will see no change,” he said, adding that passengers would still collect frequent flyer miles on United flights.
